As India marks another year of Independence, the Consulate General of India, Durban invites learners, students, artists, photographers, content creators and the wider community to participate in the Viksit Bharat Competitions 2026.

Inspired by the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, these competitions provide a platform to celebrate India's rich heritage, showcase creativity and strengthen the cultural bonds between India and South Africa. Participants have the opportunity to express their connection to India while competing for prizes worth up to R100,000.

The four competitions include:

My India, My Story – Reel Competition
Share your personal connection to India through a creative social media reel. Whether it is India's culture, traditions, festivals, people or cherished memories, tell your unique story and inspire others.

Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz – Independence Day Special Edition
Test your knowledge of India's history, culture, geography, heritage and achievements in this exciting online quiz. Challenge yourself, learn something new and celebrate India's incredible journey.

Painting Competition – Viksit Bharat 2047: India of Your Dreams
Artists are invited to imagine India's future through the theme "India 1947 vs India 2047." Open to both school learners and adults, the competition encourages participants to creatively portray India's transformation and aspirations for the future.

India Through Your Lens – Photography Competition
Capture the beauty, diversity and spirit of India through photography. Whether it reflects culture, traditions, architecture, people or everyday moments, every photograph has the power to tell a meaningful story.
